As many of you know, I've had a slight obsession with cowboys and Native Americans this year (no, I'm not going to say "Indians"). This song is my absolute favorite Christmas song at the moment. I close my eyes and picture it. It makes me want to write more of my novel. I think I will tonight... if I can get through three meetings, tithing settlement, and volleyball.
"Christmas for Cowboys"
John Denver
Tall in the saddle, we spend Christmas Day,
driving the cattle over snow covered-plains.
All of the good gifts given today,
ours is the sky and the wide open range.
Back in the cities they have different ways,
football and eggnog and Christmas parades.
I'll take a blanket, I'll take the reins,
It's Christmas for cowboys wide-open plains.
A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night,
the stars overhead are Christmas tree lights.
The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray,
It's Christmas for cowboys, wide-open plains.
It's tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day,
driving the cattle over snow-covered plains.
So many gifts have been opened today,
ours is the sky and the wide open range.
It's Christmas for cowboys, wide open plains.

I saw that picture and just smiled. That is so typical of him. I don't know if your Mom told you but I had all of his albums. I ws a disgusting, annoying JD fan. I can sing every song and did much to everyone's dismay. Now I have some CDs of his. Anyway, try Rocky Mounain High and also Windsong (albums) and the Alaskan Trilogy (songs) (Whalebones and Crosses is one of the songs). That would be after Christmas music. Have you heard Celtic Thunder? They are super good, too.
do you have cowboy boots yet or what?
No cowboy boots yet. I want some, but they have to be PERFECT. I also am not exactly sure how to incorporate them into my wardrobe...
